4th November 2006
After some deliberation, I’ve decided to start cashing in the I Bonds I purchased a year or so ago. It’s not that I don’t think they are good investments, they just don’t fit my needs right now.

We’re also in the process of clearing out our junk and other unwanted items. I am amazed at the amount of crap we’ve accumulated in a fairly short amount of time… It got me to thinking how we become slaves to the things we own, whether through the payments we make on them, or the money we spend on upkeep or even the space we must have just to store them.

30th July 2006
Many people (both readers of this site and in my day-to-day life) have been asking what I am going to do once we move. Well, I’m happy to say I was offered another position within my existing company which will allow me to work from home most of the time.

9th July 2006
I haven’t had much time to post this past week. The posts I do have time for are mainly updates to our situation and that’s what this one will be too. At some point I’ll get back into writing some more useful (I hope) stuff but it may be a while…
So, some quick updates before I head outside to continue working around the house… I’m just going to cram everything into one post to save a little time.

23rd June 2006
A friend of mine has a nice little business providing interactive (web sites, emails etc) to a number of clients. They often get work last minute and are extremely swamped lately. Earlier this week they needed help producing an email for one of their clients and asked if I could help.

4th June 2006
For the first time since starting this blog our net worth dropped month to month in May. The drop was about 1% and was primarily due to losses in our retirement accounts. Our expenses have exceeded income by a significant amount for two months straight now due to no income from my wife and only slightly decreased spending. I think in June we’ll make a concerted effort to cut costs and get back to positive cash flow.

20th May 2006
A few days ago, May 12th actually, I got concerned with the run-up in the overall markets and subsequent drop in the Dow. I shifted our 401K accounts more into cash and bonds. The Dow closed at 11,380 that day and has subsequently dropped to 11,128. So I saved us a couple thousand in losses.
