What I’ll be doing after we move.

30th July 2006

Many people (both readers of this site and in my day-to-day life) have been asking what I am going to do once we move. Well, I’m happy to say I was offered another position within my existing company which will allow me to work from home most of the time.

We bought a house!

30th July 2006

Whew, it’s been a crazy couple of weeks to say the least. I actually got myself sick (some sort of sinus infection) this last week which isn’t helping any either…

Anyway, here’s a quick update…

Whew what a trip!

23rd July 2006

Made it back at about 3:30 this morning… The flight out was a disaster. Ended up not arriving until 8PM after being delayed by weather in both Washington DC and Boston. I also ended up flying to Burlington, VT instead of Saanac Lake, NY. About the same drive for my dad to make to the airport there…

After a 13 hour drive home last night I’m whipped. The car was great, got 27 MPG.

I’ll try and write some posts later today to detail the house we’re making an offer on etc.

I’m off again…

21st July 2006

Heading to New York state tomorrow to pick up the Subaru from my father. Flying from Detroit -> Washington DC -> Boston -> Saranac Lake…

Brief update, I think we’ve found a house in IL we like. Going to put in a bid. I’ll post pics when I have a second.

I should be back late Saturday night/Sunday morning. Will try and get an update out then.

We’re back…

19th July 2006

Actually we got back Monday morning but I’ve been tied up with some of the side-work I have and spending 7+ hours a day in meetings. (something I will not miss…)

Saved another $960 by buying car from my dad

14th July 2006

As I posted about before we are buying a car from my dad. On top of the savings we’re getting by buying used I received another nice surprise today when I went to the Secretary of State (DMV) to register it. There is no sales tax on vehicles sold to family members. At $16,000 x 6% this comes out to $960 we didn’t end up having to pay. (Although I did have to pay $158 for the license plate… :/)

Since my dad tends to buy new cars every 2-3 years I’m thinking I should always buy his hand-me-downs… :)

Updates

9th July 2006

I haven’t had much time to post this past week. The posts I do have time for are mainly updates to our situation and that’s what this one will be too. At some point I’ll get back into writing some more useful (I hope) stuff but it may be a while…

So, some quick updates before I head outside to continue working around the house… I’m just going to cram everything into one post to save a little time.

Happy 4th of July

4th July 2006

to all of my US readers. Hope the holiday is finding you relaxed and having a good time.

I’m waiting to hear if some friends are coming over for a BBQ. Going to put them to work on cleaning up some of the landscaping to get the house ready to sell… ;)
